The LMSA-West Chapter at the University of California at San Francisco School of Medicine is honored to be hosting the 26th Annual LMSA-West Regional Conference
Welcoming Change – Bridging Gaps for Latinos through
Improvements in Health Policy
And Graduation Banquet at UCSF Mission Bay Campus (click here for tickets)
Our annual regional conference enables LMSA chapters to convene and assemble experts in a wide range of disciplines from around the country to conduct seminars on Latino issues and skills development for high school, undergraduate, and medical students, and a variety of healthcare professionals. LMSA recognizes that in order to eliminate the health disparities that plague Latinos, we must set the foundation for change by cultivating the future leaders of our community. To achieve this goal, LMSA created the annual regional conference to foster discourse, analysis, and systematic action on issues critical to recruiting and retaining Latinos in the health professions and to increase awareness of healthcare discrepancies in the Latino community. Through this regional conference, we will promote greater access to health, advance cultural competency in medicine, establish and create long standing mentoring relationships, as well as advocate for novel approaches to community health and the elimination of health disparities. The conference is open to everyone!
THE MISSION of the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) West is to promote the development of Latino students through education, volunteerism, and professional networking opportunities that foster diversity, higher education, and the improved health of the Latino community. The 26th Annual LMSA Regional Conference aims to promote:
The recruitment, retention, and academic advancement of future Latino healthcare professionals.
Improving the delivery of health care services to Latinos and medically underserved populations.
Developing a network of Latino students and healthcare professionals through which mentorship, consultation, and exchange of ideas about the path to medical careers can take place.
Fostering Latino students' research, community service, and academic interests that will lead to the improvement of healthcare for underserved communities.

WHAT TO DO IN SF
Whether a visitor or a local, it is hard not to find what you are looking for in San Francisco. The narrow, often hilly streets not only provide gorgeous glimpses of the bay and its famous bridges, but many also offer an array of shops, restaurants, cafes, and bars. Within San Francisco’s city limits you can find distinctly defined neighborhoods where the sights, sounds and flavors can change within a single block. Glitzy shops and hotels fill Union Square; Chinatown is jam-packed with vegetable and herbal markets, temples, and of course, a substantial percentage of San Francisco’s Chinese residents. Haight-Ashbury is a colorful, vibrant area harboring all walks of life, while Fisherman’s Wharf harbors the tourists and several top attractions (Alcatraz, Pier 39, and the Maritime Museum). If you are searching for more active pursuits, half the fun in San Francisco takes place outdoors. Golden Gate Park and National Recreation Area features beaches, gardens, lakes, massive lawns and fields, and many other recreational facilities: tennis courts; baseball, soccer, and polo fields; a golf course; and riding stables. Nightlife in San Francisco is second to none, with more restaurants per capita than any other US city and bars and clubs for all tastes in music and atmosphere.
